The Pavilion Master Plan and National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) Application

Client
Gympie Regional Council

Scope

  • 2015 - Comprehensive internal and external stakeholder consultation program

  • Preparation of a master plan to guide the redevelopment of the Pavilion, the premier indoor events venue at the Gympie Showgrounds

  • Completion of detailed 3D perspectives and renders

  • Completion of a business case and successful NSRF application in support of the project

Issues
Management of a broad range of stakeholder expectations, from the needs of indoor sporting organisations and the show society, to hirers of the Pavilion for corporate functions, school presentation evenings and social events including weddings.

Consultation identified significant challenges faced by the venue in its current configuration, including lighting, acoustic baffling, circulation, disability access and even sports balls damaging fixtures.

Our consultation highlighted the need to refresh the venue, while respecting its history, most notably including the significant financial contributions made by local residents and businesses towards the construction of the Pavilion in 1995.

Outcomes
The Master Plan identified innovative solutions to challenges faced by the venue. The successful Gympie Regional Council National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) application included the Business Case and Master Plan prepared by CPR Group. The Pavilion redevelopment construction was completed in 2017.
